The East side of Brisbane is set to get frothy over it's newest Brewery
Scottish brewers Brewdog is finally slated to open in November 2019, in Brisbane’s East side, Murarrie. The long - awaited taproom and brewery will be named DogTap with the brewing set to commence in December, and the release of its first beers by January 2020.
Long-term BrewDog UK employee Calvin Macdonald was this month named Operations Manager for Australia, joining Lindsay Crawford – formerly of 4 Pines Brewing – who was named Site General Manager in August. The Scottish brewery has also appointed Tim Radjenovic, formerly assistant brewer at Sydney’s All Hands Brewing House, which was named Champion Brew Pub in September at the Indies (Independent Brewer’s Association) , to its brewing team.
Last year the Queensland state government announced a craft beer strategy to support the state's booming craft industry, and supported BrewDog's move to Australia through the $65 million Advance Queensland Industry Attraction Fund.
Brisbane was announced as the site of the Australian brewery in February 2018, with plans to be brewing by January this year. Despite the slow progress, it’s finally time to get excited for what this brewery will be offering.
The $30 million brewery will have 28 taps covering many of the BrewDog names including the Punk IPA, as well as Australian wines, and local craft beer available with the likes of Range Brewing, Currumbin Valley, Balter and others through planned guest taps. Of course with all these beverage options there’ll be some tasty options with a menu including chicken wings, calamari, as well as a brunch menu.
"DogTap Brisbane is one of the biggest and best bars we’ve ever created, and we’re so excited to open this amazing space," BrewDog co-founder James Watt said.
"We’ve shipped BrewDog Headliner beers to Australia for nearly 10 years, but this new brewery will now give us the capacity to reach new corners of the country."
The brewery will have a 25-hectolitre brewing system, half the original 50-hectolitre system first proposed, to provide greater flexibility for its local operations. Not only that, the brewery is in the process of installing a barrel-ageing facility, giving the team there the chance to develop an Australian-exclusive set of wood aged wonders.
To complete the ambience BrewDog's resident artist Fisher, has created some vivid street art and murals splashed across the heavy concrete walls, while inside the leather and timber decor has an industrial edge.
With a name like Brewdog and DogTap, it’s also safe to say that this venue will be dog friendly.
So who’s ready to check this place out with their best friend?
