A coffee lover's hub: The Maillard Project opens in Brisbane City
The Brisbane coffee scene just got stronger. About as strong as a single origin espresso first thing in the morning. The good people from popular Margaret Street Cafe, Coffee Anthology, have finally opened their sister cafe The Maillard Project.
The space on Charlotte Street, gets it’s name from “Maillard” (Mey-YAR); the chemical reaction between amino acids and sugars at elevated temperatures that gives coffee (and browned food) It’s distinctive and delicious flavour.
The cafe is a multi-faceted hub designed to be a one stop shop coffee community, being a café, roastery, training centre and where people are encouraged to come in, to chat about coffee or learn about it. Boasting clean lines and modern aesthetic, The Maillard Project offers expertly brewed coffee, from a low-set island bar in the middle of the cafe, and will have guests drooling over the classy brunch menu, from the fully equipped kitchen.
Expect items such as Nutella Waffles, or Pork stock congee with smoked ham hock, pickled bamboo, mixed herbs, crispy shallot, and soft boiled egg as well as other tasty items.
