Darvella, The sweet patisserie that has people lining up at Bulimba’s Oxford St.
During the lockdown heights of 2020, Brisbane appeared to be going through a pop-up bakery renaissance with the popularity of Agnes’s and Pawpaw’s “pivot” during those tough times. Secretly though, we all wished that these pop-up bakeries became a permanent fixture.

Now, those wishes have been granted. At the start of 2021, and by popular demand, Venzin Group and the team behind Pawpaw have opened Bulimba’s newest addition to Oxford St, Darvella Patisserie.
Darvella, named after owner Giorgina’s father, (Raymund’s), hometown in Switzerland, boasts a chic upmarket feel, with a blend of timber, terracotta and flagstone paving. A bi-fold window is perfectly situated out front for those take-away coffees, whilst inside, sweet-toothed customers can see the large kitchen at the back where everything is made from scratch in-house. Head pastry chef Lindsay Krahenbring has serious credentials, having worked at Neil Perry’s Rockpool group, other Sydney fine dning establishments as well as stints as pastry chef overseas in Montreal and Vancouver, Canada.
Darvella’s offering includes traditional croissants, doughnuts, fresh baked artisan breads, savoury items, signature baby cakes, as well as locally made Swiss cheeses, deli sandwiches and Swiss-chocolate-infused treats.
