Nostalgia on a Plate: Brisbane’s Nos. Bakehouse & Cafe Brings Comfort Food with a Twist

Brisbane's food scene is getting a delicious dose of nostalgia with the arrival of Nos. Bakehouse & Cafe, a charming new spot in Dutton Park that promises to warm hearts and delight taste buds. Nos is the brainchild of baker Susan Koh and chef Hank Lyu, who have combined their talents to create a menu packed with comfort food and sweet indulgences.

Stepping into Nos. feels like walking into a comforting embrace. The team has transformed the space on Annerley Road—formerly a photo studio and later Penny Coffee Co.—into a cozy haven with vintage decor, lightened interiors, and a spruced-up garden perfect for a leisurely meal. The result is an atmosphere that feels like home, paired with an innovative menu to match.

At the heart of Nos. is their concept of "nostalgia on a plate," offering diners the best of both worlds—a bakehouse with irresistible pastries and a cafe serving hearty, flavourful dishes. Kick off your visit with their sando menu, featuring fillings like tuna mayo with caramelised onion or Japanese egg mayonnaise, all nestled between slices of house-made shokupan bread. For a heartier option, dig into their 24-hour slow-cooked braised beef ribs with creamy whipped potatoes or the chilled buckwheat noodles in Spanish vegetable consomme with seafood.

No visit to Nos. is complete without sampling the desserts. Their twice-baked Callebaut dark chocolate cake with Speculoos jam and yuzu brulee cheesecake are showstoppers, while the ube Basque cheesecake adds a colorful, contemporary twist to the lineup.

Wash it all down with their specialty beverages, like a Basque cheesecake iced latte or a lavender-topped coffee creation. Nos. is a place to linger, savour, and create new memories.

When:
Mark your calendars—limited takeaway options will be available during the soft opening on Monday, December 2, but the grand opening on December 7 promises the full experience. Whether you're after a nostalgic bite or a decadent treat, Nos. Bakehouse & Cafe is ready to welcome you home.
